Frank Wright's Mother
(Emma) ran a General Shop, plus sweets and home
made ice-cream, in Bell Street for a number of years
which eventually closed in the early 30's. Like most
families before the Second World War this small
property, and for a while the next door house, was
home not only to a small business but also home to 5
children and two adults! |
Next door at No. 28 her
husband (Alf) also carried out a Coal Merchant
business until his horse died and which he could not
afford to replace. |

As
of the time of writing No. 30 Bell Street
still looks very similar to the picture on
the left, less of course the Lyons Tea sign! |
